Pre-designed logos are logos that are created beforehand and offered for sale. Each logo is unique and is sold only once.

Exclusivity

Exclusivity is the main difference between pre-designed logos and template logos. Pre-designed logos are exclusive, template logos are not. In other words, when you buy a pre-designed logo, only you own that logo. When you buy a template logo, you share that logo with everyone who bought that same logo before you, and everyone who will ever buy that same logo.

Yes, that's a pretty big difference in quality.

Note that there are companies that peddle template logos but call the "pre-designed" logos. Make sure you understand their policy on ownership. If you are unsure, buy from one of the recommended pre-designed logo firms listed to the right.

Who should buy pre-designed logos?

Every new company should consider a pre-designed logo. While they are generally cheaper than custom logos, the lower price does not necessarily mean lower quality. When a logo designer works on a custom logo, he or she will typically create many concept designs. The client selects only one. The rest of the logos can then be sold as pre-designed logos, provided that they are distinctly different from the selected design.

How much?

Pre-designed logos go for between $90 and $1,000. Avoid offers under $90 as it is quite possible that these are template logos being sold as "pre-designed" logos. You could go over $1,000 as well, if you find the perfect logo.
